One of the objectives of our club is to act as a voice for local mountain bikers on issues such as land access and new trail development. We can make a real difference in these areas by being involved in the planning process by which local authorities consult with the community and decide how land, recreation opportunities and amenities are managed.

  1. the council should assist community groups to investigate, develop and promote MTB trails on council land in our district.

Key points of our submission;

  1. There are not enough opportunities for mountain biking in the Waikato on conservation land.
  2. DOC should investigate developing multiuser trails whenever considering track upgrades or new trails.
  3. Mountain biking access in Pureora forest should be protected.
  4. MTBNZ/local clubs should be involved in development of the upcoming recreational strategy for the Waikato area.

Sainsbury Road Trails Proposal
